A thirteen storey office building on the highway leading out of Budapest. The Institute of Economics, Centre for Economic and Regional Studies of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA KRTK KTI) was moving from here to an another research building. Researchers and the staff have left behind some of their accumulated belongings from the 20th century. The building looks like an old-fashioned workers’ hostel or a shabby hotel in the countryside. The objects remained from the past and the strange architectural spaces make us smile but this smile soon disappears. The scene of “real communism” is funny and frustrating at the same time.
